Michael Tomaschek has played a major role in the leadership of the entire Operetta and Musical Repertoire of the Vienna Volksoper. This includes primarily the major works of the “golden” and “silver” Operetta eras, such as:

  • Johann Strauß: “The Bat”, “The Gypsy Baron”, “Vienna Blood”, “A Night in Venice”
  • Franz Léhàr: “The Land of Smiles”, “The Merry Widow”, “The Zarewitsch” etc.
  • Emmerich Kálmàn: “The Csárdàs Princess”, “Countess Mariza”, “The Duchess of Chicago” etc.

not to mention the “classical” Musicals: “Fiddler on the Roof”, “My Fair Lady”, “Kiss me, Kate”, “Man of la Mancha”, La Cage aux Folles”.

As Chorus Master, Michael Tomaschek has worked with many illustrious Conductors, such as Fabio Luisi, Marcello Viotti, Leopold Hager, Pinchas Steinberg, Sebastian Weigele, Raffael Frühbeck de Burgos, as well as with such Stage Directors as Thomas Langhoff, David Pountney, Robert Carsens, Christine Mielitz, Jérome Savary and Harry Kupfer.

Michael Tomaschek has also prepared choruses for the major works of the Italian, French, and Russian operatic Repertoire
